Frequently asked questions

This course is free! That being said, Yellowhead relies primarily on grants and donations to fund our work. If you would like to share appreciation for this resource and have the means, you are welcome to donate to the Institute via TMU here. If you are mandating a large group of employees to take this course, however, please write to us at learnonline@yellowheadinstitute.org to discuss options.

While this course is designed to be an introduction to Land Back, it is not an introductory Indigenous Studies course – some knowledge of Indigenous concepts, issues and history in Canada is expected.

This course is delivered via narrated slides (with transcripts), that also include videos, podcasts, other online resources. There are also readings associated with most modules. Assignments are restricted to short reflection questions to help you process your own learning.

This course is self-paced and there is no expiry to your registration. That means you can take your time. For learners who are working on the course steadily, expect 1-3 hours per module (including course resources/’homework’).

This course is currently designed to be fully independent and our team does not have the capacity at this time to provide feedback on course activities or instructor support generally. If would still like to ask a content related question, please email us at learnonline@yellowheadinstute.org and we will do our best to reply.

The Land Back online course is designed to meet the WCAG AA accessibility standards. This includes inclusive features such as text alternatives for non-text content, keyboard navigability, and closed captioning. These elements ensure that all learners can access and engage with the material effectively.

We are happy to help with questions related to registration or general questions. Please email us at learnonline@yellowheadinstitute.org with your question(s) and we will do our best to get back to you within 48 hours! Please note that this is a beta version of the course – we appreciate your feedback and patience as we work to continuously improve the course.

This course is best accessed on a tablet size screen or larger. Optimal learning will take place on a laptop or desktop. If you do use a mobile device to access the course, please ensure to use landscape orientation.

We are also working on creating a formalized credit version of the course – please stay tuned!
